The Royal Flying Doctor Service is the first, largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisation in the world. Using the latest in aviation, communication and medical technology, they bring an extensive healthcare network to those who live, work and travel throughout regional Australia and the vast Australian Outback. While emergency aeromedical retrieval remains the primary focus, they also provide an extensive network of comprehensive primary health care services. The Flying Doctor, on average per day, treats 751 patients, holds 38 clinics, flies 65,544 kilometres and evacuates 101 emergency patients. Although the RFDS receives some funding from the government, they must still rely on donations from the community to help with the shortfall. There is so much more to do to address the critical shortage of basic healthcare in rural and remote communities. With your help anything is possible.
